Ogle Gets Fit with School Health Award
Ogle Elementary PTA has won $1,200 to encourage healthy habits during Ogle Family Fitness Nights this fall. The Ogle Family Fitness Night is a recipient of an Award for Excellence in Texas School Health. The award program, sponsored by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), presents cash prizes for projects that improve the lifelong physical, mental and social well-being of students, school staff and the community.
Frisco ISD High School Bands are Superior!
Congratulations to all nine high school bands for receiving unanimous first division, “superior” ratings at Texas Music Educators Association Region 24 competition! Assistant Fine Arts Director Preston Hazzard notes that this is the highest rating bestowed on a program using the UIL evaluation rubric system. All eight Frisco ISD 5A Bands (Lebanon Trail High School is 4A) advanced to Area B competition. Good luck this weekend at the contest in Little Elm.
Look Who’s Been Published!
Akansha Rao, an Independent Study & Mentorship student at Reedy High School, has been published in the Engineering Science and Technology International Journal her article, which took months to write, is titled “3D Printing-Assisted Energy Loss Testing of Artificial Aortic Heart Valves.”
Heritage High School student Fiza Kuzhiyil has had work selected to be included in the 8th “I Write Short Stories by Kids for Kids Anthology.” She will be honored along with other student authors and illustrators at a luncheon hosted by the iWRITE Literacy Organization in Houston on November 4.
Staley Student Wins Video Contest, Camp Scholarship
Taveion Neasman of Staley Middle School is the winner of the 2017 "What the Lone Star Leadership Academy Means to Me" video contest and recipient of a full scholarship to attend a 2018 Lone Star Leadership Academy camp, says his school principal, Anita Robinson. Congratulations to this young leader!
