Plano Rotary Club Rewards Citizens of the Month at Anderson ElementaryLuke Amundson wins Homer Award from Home Depot

Congratulations to Maus Middle School Wind Ensemble and Lone Star High School Wind Symphony bands for their successful performance for the 2017 Mark of Excellence/National Wind Band Honors project with the Foundation for Music Education. The Lone Star Jazz Ensemble 1 was also a national winner in the Jazz contest. Griffin MS Wind Ensemble, Maus MS Symphony Orchestra, and Lebanon Trail HS Symphonic Band received Commended band honors.

Athletic Trainers Award

All nine Frisco ISD high schools have been presented with the Safe Sports School Award by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. The program recognizes secondary schools for keeping athletes free from injury with appropriate planning, equipment, facilities and personnel.

Rotary Recognition at Anderson

Plano Rotary Club kicked off its Rotary Citizen of the Month awards at Anderson Elementary School Friday, September 29. Honored at the Good Morning Anderson celebration as Citizens of the Month were: Mallory Fiedler, Anna Hanson,  Penelope George, Samaira Verani, Aubrey Medina, Sanjana Thota, Kulsoom Akram, Stella McCord, Kaeden Nixon, Anuradha Punnam, Junior Pena, Parker Vaughn, Grant Paulsen, Olivia Perry, Haley Traxler, Bharath Dharmalingam, Calvin Jung, Vanessa Faundez, Kavya Desai, Advait Singh, Saif Eid,  Ava Reno, Jonah Roberts, Arjun Dammalapati, Camille Clark, Sadie Davidson, Sydney Boroughs, Karina Roberts, Zachary Homer, Pallav Chintalwar, Ava Langford, Lily Gibbons, Amy Bitar, and Arjun Mullassery.

Step Beyond Student Honored

Luke Amundson of the Frisco ISD Step Beyond program has received the coveted Homer Award from Home Depot. The Homer Award recognizes employees for going above and beyond in customer service. Amundson is rotating through various departments at Home Depot. He achieved his award while working as a store greeter.

Amundson is working at Home Depot as part of a program that provides experiences to help Special Education students who are 18 and older develop employment/volunteer skills, personal care, safety skills, and help accessing community resources.
