College Plans?

The College Fair at Lebanon Trail High School, 5151 Ohio Drive, is billed as the largest fair FISD has hosted with nearly 185 colleges and universities to be represented.The event is set for September 13 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. for juniors, seniors and their parents. Other grade levels may attend a similar event in January.


The Frisco ISD Guidance and Counseling Department tracks post-high school plans through the Naviance College Matriculation report. FISD’s 2017 graduates’ “top ten” college choices include:


1. Collin College

2. The University of Texas at Dallas

3. The University of Texas at Austin

4. Texas A&M University

5. Texas Tech University

6. University of North Texas

7. University of Arkansas

8. Oklahoma State University

9. The University of Oklahoma

10. Texas State University


Flu Shots Available for FISD Families

Passport Health/North Texas Flu Shots are conducting clinics for students and family members beginning this month. Please check with your campus for dates and times. Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare PPO plans are accepted for flu vaccinations. You must have a photocopy of your insurance card and the primary insured’s driver’s license. HMO plans and the gold, silver and bronze plans for Aetna and Blue Cross/Blue Shield are not accepted. Adults without accepted insurance will be charged $25 for a flu shot and children 18 and under without insurance coverage will be charged $10 for a flu shot. Cash or check only and a parent or guardian must accompany the student.

Sign Up for Annual Gary Burns Fun Run

Support the Frisco Education Foundation by entering the annual Gary Burns Fun Run. Proceeds from the Fun Run benefit scholarship opportunities for Frisco ISD students, including the Gary Burns Memorial Scholarship Fund, and innovative teacher grants that support teaching and learning in the classroom. The run is scheduled for October 28 at Toyota Stadium.


The FISD Community Folder is Available

The FISD Community Folder is back online. This is a great place for non-profit groups and local businesses to post information about services of interest to Frisco ISD students and families. Details about this service may be found here and the Community Folder is at


Dr. Waldrip Greets Retired School Personnel

Frisco Area Retired School Personnel (FARSP) is an active stakeholder with Frisco ISD. Dr. Mike Waldrip welcomed and thanked members for their continued efforts on behalf of education at their September general meeting. He was joined by FISD Board President John Classe, Board Secretary Anne McCausland and Board member Debbie Gillespie. The group of retired educators and school employees meet monthly at the Career and Technical Education Center. They are actively involved in promoting public schools and in advocating for the rights and benefits of retired teachers and school employees.
