2014 Bond Program Update

Aug 24, 2017

The 2014 Bond program continues to provide educational facilities three years after passing. The bond included projects that will support the District through an enrollment of 66,000 students. As FISD begins 2017-2018, enrollment is closing in on 58,000 students.

Completed this summer was Memorial High School (HS #10), Lawler Middle School (MS #17), Talley Elementary (ES #41) and Liscano Elementary School (ES #42), which are all part of the 2014 FISD Bond Program and are scheduled to open for the 2018-2019 school year.

Also completed this summer as part of the 2014 bond were a number of technology upgrades in the form of computers, network updates, phone updates, projectors, wireless connections, document cameras, printers, library furniture and four campus library remodeling projects for campuses built between 1999-2002.

The 2014 bond package was developed by parents and community members who studied the issue for several months. The bond committee proposed a program to provide funding for 14 new schools, including eight elementary schools, three middle schools and three high schools, as well as school additions, renovations to support facilities, land purchases and instructional and student support needs.
