Wakeland High School (27-4-1), the 13-5A district champion, will play in the regional quarterfinals of state softball playoffs against The Colony (24-5).
They advanced after defeating Mesquite Poteet 1-0 last Friday.
The Lady Wolverines now take on the Cougars in a single game at The Ballfields at Craig Ranch, 6151 Alma Road in McKinney, on Friday, May 12 at 7 p.m.
Gate prices will be $3.00 for students and $5.00 for adults. 13-5A passes will be accepted.
In addition to the action on the field, the game will also take on a special meaning for some of the coaches and players involved. Wakeland Head Coach Ashley Wilkerson is the daughter of the head coach of The Colony, and Ashley's sister is a player for The Colony softball team.
