Frisco ISD trustees selected Jenny Preston Educational Consulting as the search firm tasked with finding the District's new superintendent. Dr. Jeremy Lyon, current superintendent, announced last month he is retiring in June after 31 years in public education. He has been in FISD since 2013.
Preston Consulting is headed up by Dr. Jenny Preston. She was among four search firms trustees interviewed the afternoon of April 10, before making their selection later that evening. They considered both Texas-based and national firms before choosing the group from Fairview over Thompson & Horton LLP of Houston. Presentations were also heard from Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates of Illinois, and Ray & Associates of Iowa.
“Frisco ISD is a destination district and trustees are committed to finding the best person to serve as superintendent and call Frisco ISD home,” said Anne McCausland, Board president. “I think Jenny Preston is a great fit to lead that search. She knows Texas and has a national presence.”
Preston is former superintendent of Allen ISD and has nine years combined experience leading a district – seven in Allen and two in Graham ISD. She is currently co-partner in Strategic Planning for Practitioners and has led more than 40 districts in Texas and Oklahoma through a comprehensive strategic planning process, including FISD in 2015.
Preston has also served as interim superintendent for two school districts, and has co-conducted the Aspiring Superintendent Academy for the Texas Association of School Boards for the past 10 years. Dr. John Horn, retired Mesquite ISD superintendent, will assist her in the FISD search.
Trustees will meet with Preston and her team next Tuesday, April 18, to discuss the search process and timelines. That meeting is open to the public and will begin at 2 p.m. at the FISD Administration Building, 5515 Ohio Drive in Frisco.
