The Camerata Orchestra from Frisco ISD’s Liberty High School placed third in the Texas Music Educators Association Honor String Orchestra Competition, the highest ever finish by an FISD program in that category.
The Honor Orchestra selection process seeks to recognize and honor quality musicianship in the performance of advanced literature at the highest level.
To enter the contest, schools from across the state submit a recording of a live performance. Submissions are adjudicated by a panel of judges.
“Texas is widely known as one of the most musically competitive states in the country,” said Preston Hazzard, assistant director of fine arts for Frisco ISD. “This tremendous accomplishment speaks to the caliber of music programs in FISD, which are leading the way not just in Texas, but across the country.”
Congratulations to the following members of the Liberty Camerata Orchestra, which is directed by Chase Fickling and Julie Blackstock.
