The Frisco ISD Board of Trustees will meet Thursday evening in special session with parents, staff and community members appointed to the Priorities-Based Budget Stakeholder Committee.
It will be the second meeting of the Stakeholder Committee, which was formed to provide input and feedback as the District looks to build a balanced and sustainable budget for 2017-18 and following years.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the FISD Career and Technical Education Center training rooms, 9889 Wade Boulevard.
The public is invited to attend the meeting to learn about Texas school finance, Frisco ISD three-year financial projections and next steps in the priorities-based budget process. View meeting agenda.
At the first meeting of the Stakeholder Committee, members worked in groups to answer the question “What are the top ten Frisco ISD programs and services you value the most?” They also shared ideas regarding where they believe Frisco ISD can find budget savings. This feedback, combined with input submitted through www.friscoisd.org/budgetfeedback, will help drive budget conversations and work moving forward.
Already, the District has modified its initial plans for joint meetings between the School Board and Stakeholder Committee on November 10 and 29. The Priorities-Based Budget Steering Committee and Working Group will be in attendance at both meetings to observe.
“It’s important to us that the work taking place internally reflect the needs of the School Board and Stakeholder Committee,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeremy Lyon. “That has meant modifying the timeline of the work a little bit to provide information and enhanced opportunities for both groups to participate in the process.”
