ACT Scores Well Above State and National Averages

Sep 01, 2015

Frisco ISD students continue to outperform their peers from across the state and country on the ACT college admission and placement exam.

The average composite score for FISD students in 2015 was higher than approximately 75 percent of test takers nationwide.

The ACT consists of curriculum-based tests of educational development in English, mathematics, reading and science designed to measure the skills needed for success in first-year college coursework.

Over the past five years, average ACT scores in Frisco ISD have increased in every tested subject, including English, mathematics, reading and science, while participation in the exam grew 105 percent, climbing from 755 test takers in 2011 to 1,545 in 2015.

ACT test scores are accepted by all major U.S. colleges and universities. They are one of multiple criteria used in making admissions decisions and exceptional scores provide colleges with evidence of student readiness for the academic challenges that lie ahead.

Research shows that the rigor of coursework – a key focus in Frisco ISD – has the greatest impact on ACT performance and college readiness.
