The Texas Business Education Coalition recently honored three Frisco Independent School District campuses, Borchardt, Christie and Fisher, for their academic performance for the past three years. Principals and FISD Curriculum Department representatives attended an awards dinner and ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio earlier this month.
The schools were also recognized by the FISD Board of Trustees at the September board meeting for being named for the Honor Roll.
TBEC identified the Honor Roll schools by analyzing three years of performance data for every public school in Texas. A TBEC Honor Roll school must have a high percentage of students meeting state standards on every TAKS test for three consecutive years. TBEC Honor Roll schools also have the highest percentage of students performing at the state's most rigorous standard commended in every subject. The selection criteria also considered the school's demographic, number of subjects tested and grade levels. Compared to other schools with similar demographics, TBEC honor Roll schools demonstrated the highest levels of academic achievement year after year.
“I know the eight of us who traveled to San Antonio last week will have fond memories of a fantastic and rewarding experience in San Antonio as our schools were recognized as a 2007-2008 TBEC Honor Roll school. We all want to thank FISD, Dr. Rick Reedy and Dr. Debra Nelson for making the trip possible and to Debbie Jarzombek and Mia Bennett for traveling with us to San Antonio,” said Betty King, principal of Borchardt. |
