CHS Orchestra Wins Varsity UIL Sweepstakes Trophy(March, 2008)
The Centennial Non-Varsity Orchestra also participated in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest for the first time in school history. They received good, excellent and outstanding marks from the judges. Soloist Garrett Shinn, and Kardi Barton, Emma Chibnall, Alexander Chivian, Megan Clements, Morgan Edmonds, Peyton Edmonds, Timothy Fu, Sophia Miao, David Pruitt, Drew Renfro, Gabriela Rocha, Megan Wright and Susan Yi, are the non-varsity orchestra members who participated. The orchestras are under the direction of Dr. Priscilla Holt.

Centennial Varsity Orchestra has won the first Varsity UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Sweepstakes trophy in the school’s history. Orchestra members: Shane Andrews, Alysia Chen, David Ford, Michael Galvan, Alexandra Gamez, Kaitlyn Johnson, Min Ji Kim, Erica Johnson, Chanel Rafie, Alyssa Trolio, Yi Zhang and soloists, Amanda Chen, Kenny Smith and Sanaz Talaifar are to be congratulated for their outstanding preparation and performance in early March at Newman Smith High School.
