Channel 11's Karen Borta Reads at Smith(March, 2008)

Karen Borta, news anchor for KTVT Channel 11, was a guest reader at Smith Elementary School Thursday, March 13. Borta is the mother of three and a strong advocate of reading to children.

Borta read to the first grade students of  teacher Lindsey Lisman.  One of the selections she read was The Perfect Nest by Catherine Friend and John Manders. It called for a variety of character voices and accents, which Borta cheerfully supplied to the delight of her listeners. Borta was not familiar with the book prior to her visit and enjoyed it so much that she reported back that she has bought it for her own children.
