What you can do to get ready for College as a Senior

Senior Checklist

September

  • Write colleges for applications, catalogs, and financial aide information
  • Watch applications for college admissions
  • Register for the ACT and/or SAT
  • Complete NCAA forms (athletes)
  • Attend College Fair
  • Prepare your resume for teachers you will ask to write letters of recommendation
  • Watch for and read the Senior News letter
  • Visit college campuses

October

  • Take SAT and/or ACT
  • Ask teachers or counselor to write letters of recommendation, if needed
  • Begin searching for information on scholarships and financial aide
  • Read the Senior News letter
  • Apply for on campus housing
  • Begin your application process

November

  • Complete applications- watch for the December 1 deadline
  • Listen to announcements
  • Read Senior News
  • Apply for scholarships
  • Attend the financial aid workshop

December

  • Take SAT and /or ACT if not yet completed
  • Complete any college applications not yet finished
  • Assemble records needed for filing financial aid forms
  • Pick up financial aid form from counselors
  • Study hard for your mid-terms

January

  • Complete and mail financial aid form

February

  • Register for the draft if you are a male age 18 or older
  • Request your seven semester rank in class from the registrar

March

  • Consider admission and financial aid offers
  • Apply for local scholarships
  • Register for AP exams, if applicable

April

  • Take TASP, if needed

May

  • Notify the college you will be attending regarding your acceptance
  • Inform those colleges you are rejecting with a thank-you
  • Request final transcript to be sent to college
  • Apply for housing deposit refund from any school you are not attending
