Staff Rules for Facebook Accounts:

With the popularity of Facebook as a means of staying connected in today’s world, many parents often make “friend” requests to teachers on their Facebook sites. We ask our employees to clearly distinguish between personal and professional communications, so please do not be offended if your request goes unanswered or is denied. If a teacher was friends with a parent before a student was in his/her class, then they may already be a friend on their social networking sites. It would be difficult for a teacher to be “friends” with the parents of all of their students and this is not recommended due to concerns regarding confidentiality, professionalism and potential conflicts.

Thank you for understanding.

Welcome to School Year 2011-2012

I see our students as problem-solvers, innovators, and life-long learners that will meet the challenges of the 21st Century and shape the world into something better than what we've known. Your children inspire me each day in these beliefs, and I feel grateful to play a part in their first steps into the future!

Spears Elementary’s accomplishments are impressive, and I consider it a privilege to serve on such a dynamic educational team. My family and I moved to the area from Shreveport, Louisiana ten years ago.  My husband Gene and I have been married for 22 years, and we have two children.  My son Justin is 20, and he is a junior at the University of Texas at Austin.   My daughter Rani is 15, and she is an sophomore at Wakeland High School. We have enjoyed becoming Texans and the opportunities for education, recreation, and cultural awareness available in this beautiful state.

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies along with Teacher Certification and earned my Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University of Texas. I am dedicated to our students’ educational success, and I look forward each year to all of the fun and exciting learning opportunities at Spears!

Questions About Student Performance

January 2012
Dear Parents:

Attached you will find a copy of the State of Texas 2010-2011 School Report Card for our school. This report, required by the Texas Legislature, is provided by the state for all public schools. The School Report Card (SRC) contains student performance data as well as information concerning financial expenditures, average class sizes, and student/teacher ratios.

If you have questions about the SRC, the Glossary for the 2010-11 Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) contains detailed definitions and sources of data for all of the information. The Glossary can be viewed and/or downloaded from the following website:

http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/aeis/2011/glossary.html

State law requires that the SRC include data for the state, the district, the school, and a group of schools similar to our school. The information must be reported for student groups based on ethnicity and socioeconomic status and must include at least two years of data, if possible. The SRC contains different sets of data for elementary, middle, and high schools.

The School Report Card is very important to us at Spears Elementary. We are very proud of the progress our students have made each year and the recognition our school has received. We will continue to help each child excel to his/her fullest potential by providing exemplary educational experiences. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Martha Moroch
Principal
