Attending Stephen F. Austin State University, I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Reading and my Masters degree in Gifted and Talented. I started my teaching career in 1991 teaching first grade and gifted students in Italy, Texas. After moving to DeSoto ISD, I taught third grade for several years and attended Texas Women’s University to receive my Reading Recovery certificate. As a reading recovery teacher, I worked with several students and the other part of my day was spent being the campus literacy specialist, working with Pre-K through 4th grade teachers on strategies for the classroom. After the school librarian left our campus, my principal approached me and asked if I would be the campus librarian.
My husband, Chris, and I moved to Frisco in 1999 with our two boys, Mason and Adison. I traveled to Highland Park ISD from Frisco for 3 years where I taught third grade. With our love for Frisco, I decided that I needed to work where I lived and helped opened Sparks Elementary in 2002 as a third grade teacher. While teaching, I attended Texas A & M Commerce to earn my principal’s certification. I worked as the assistant principal of Anderson Elementary before being named principal of Sem Elementary.
Sem is such a delightful place and coming to work each day is such a joy. I enjoy teaching, learning and helping others become successful. Welcome to an amazing school with a staff and students like no other!
