2009 UIL Interscholastic League Press Conference
The Career & Technical Education Center Student Media Division of Frisco ISD-TV received one gold medal, one bronze medal, and Honorable Mention in a variety of Broadcasting Individual Achievement Awards. Frisco ISD-TV received 1st Place in the General News Story category for the piece on Tadlock Elementary School’s session on Bullying featuring Jay McGraw by Ally Crutcher, Zakiyah Johnson, Tony
Holthaus, and Caroline Wolf; 3rd Place in the Editing category for the Bledsoe Elementary School Sock Hop piece by Zakiyah Johnson; and Honorable Mention in the Feature category for the Healthy Snacks piece by Caroline Wolf, Ally Crutcher, Julia Duke, Zakiyah Johnson, and Tony Holthaus, about the CTE Center Culinary Arts students no-bake snack recipes featured in Medical City Heart’s Healthy Heart
Magazine. Congratulations Frisco ISD-TV Crew!

2009 High School Production Awards

Media Technology students (Frisco ISD-TV) from the Career &
Technical Education Center traveled to Texas A & M – Commerce and participated in Communication Career Day sponsored by the National Broadcasting Society – Alpha Epsilon Rho. Frisco ISD-TV swept three categories in the organization’s 2009 High School Production Awards competition. Click here for the honors.

CTEC Building featured in Architecture Week

The CTE Center was designed by the SHW Group and is being featured in Architecture Week. The CTE Center currently serves all four FISD high school in its 126,000-square-foot facility. Students take upper level courses on the CTEC campus that help prepare them for real-world professional environments. Click here to view the article (scroll towards the bottom to Frisco, TX).

CTEC In the News

The SHW Group recently submitted the CTEC for the McConnell Award, a prestigious international award from The Council of Educational Facility Planners. The CTEC was also featured on the cover of this month’s issue of School Planning & Management Magazine.

FHS Business Students Advance to State

Frisco High School is pleased to announce that on Saturday, January 24, twenty-seven students competed in the Business Professionals of America Regional Leadership Conference in Garland, Texas.  Most of our students placed in the top six, and 17 qualified to compete at the State Leadership Conference in Austin in March. Click here to see the full list of results and who will be advancing to State, and the events in which they placed.

On their way to Culinary School...

Three CTE students are well on their way to having a career in culinary arts. Syndey Klein (CHS), Amelia Braden (LHS) and Heather Mulloy (FHS) have all been accepted to Johnson & Wales University. All three students have career aspirations of someday owning their own restaurants. Heather Mulloy was also awarded a scholarship. December 2008
