6th Grade Parent Athletic Meeting, May 24

There will be a 6th Grade Boys & Girls Parent Athletic Meeting Thursday, May 24 from 5:30-6:30pm in the Cafe for all parents of 6th graders enrolled in Athletics for next year (2012-2013).

End of Year Medication Procedure

The last day of school this year is Friday June 1st.  We ask that you please come to school to pick up all of your child’s medication, including Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Benadryl, on or before that date.  Any medication left in the clinic after June 1, 2012, will be destroyed.  We hope you will understand that this is a safety measure to insure these medications do not fall into the wrong hands.  This not only protects your child, but it protects other students as well. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Observance of Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day June 8th

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is a national day sponsored by the Ms. Foundation on the fourth Thursday of April. The premise of the day is to allow children in their parents workplace to learn about the wealth of job opportunities available to them, while being asked to think about how their work will fit into their overall future. While school districts across the state and nation support this type of exposure for young people, we do not support the program on a school day. School districts in the Dallas area - Region X - consider June 6 as the day to observe Take our Daughters and Sons to Work. (Region 10 districts have set a precedent of the Wednesday before the second Friday in June as the common date selected for TODASTW.) If parents and their company choose to observe the day in April, this is their choice, but students will be counted as absent.

MINDBENDER Academy, June 11-15

The 2012 MindBender Academy Camp will be held June 11-15 at the FISD CTE. It is open to all FISD Incoming 6th, 7th & 8th Graders. For more information click HERE.

School Nutrition Program Changes for 2012-2013

Beginning July 1, 2012, school nutrition programs will be required to follow new federal regulations. These new regulations are based on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA). Frisco ISD Child Nutrition Program already meets many of the new requirements such as offering whole grains, a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, and only offering low fat or fat free milk. However, there are some changes coming. For more information click HERE.
