The CHS Speech, Interp & Debate Team Qualifies for State & Makes History…

The Titan Speech, Interp & Debate Team is growing and achieving more each year.  This year, our Team has broken several of our own records, including MOST awards won at a single tournament, our FIRST time to go to State in a Debate event, the MOST state qualifiers in our history, along with our FIRST double-qualified student!

In order for our Team members to qualify for the Texas Forensic Association (TFA) State Tournament, students must advance from prelims to semis, and place in finals to earn the 10 points required to qualify for State.  Placing first at one tournament only awards 8 points, so students must place a number of times.  Our Team competes against 5A schools and TFA, TOC and NFL National champions, and still we are holding our own gaining strength as our program grows.

Congratulations to our newly STATE QUALIFIED MEMBERS:ERIC W. (qualified in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking), MICHAEL B.& JAMES W.(qualified in Duet Acting), and JOSH W. & ERIC W.(qualified in Public Forum Debate).

The Team has 5-7 more students hoping to qualify, and we also will be selecting a representative in Congressional Debate and Poetry Interpretation to represent CHS in El Paso this year.  This year’s State Tournament is March 10-13.
