FISD students honored at this year’s exhibition were Ali Khanian from Roach Middle School and Rebecca Yan and Moon Kang from Frisco High School.

Following a welcome by both the YAM chairman Suzanne Greene and TAEA’s President Sarah Sanders, Dr. Sharon Jackson of TEA spoke in support of the fine arts and presented medals to the students.

FISD Fine Arts Director Daryl Trent and Superintendent Rick Reedy also attended the 2008 YAM celebration along with parents and FISD art teachers Kristen De Carlo, June Waggener and Laverne Forwark.

March is Youth Art Month in Texas. Youth Art Month was created in 1961 to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.  The exhibition will be on public display through March 8th.  FISD has been selected for the exhibition for the past 11 years during which time four student works have also been selected to hang in the Governor’s Office. Currently the artwork of 2007 FHS graduate, Alex Cox, is on display.
