Rotary Spotlights FISD Seniors (January, 2005)

Ben Walker and Kaely KantarisEach month, the Frisco Noon Rotary Club recognizes seniors from FISD's two high schools.

On Thursday, January 5, Rotarians greeted Ben Walker and Kaely Kantaris of Centennial High School.

Ben Walker is the son of Mike and Diane Walker and has been a student in FISD since 1996. During his high school career he has been involved in football, baseball, Science Club, Spanish Club, Key Club, Student Council, Student Venture, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society, and has held leadership roles in several of these groups. Each year he has been voted most likely to succeed. He is a peer tutor and has volunteered at the local food bank and at Stonebriar Community Church. Ben plans to attend Texas A&M University, where he will most likely major in Biology and minor in Pre-medicine, with plans to be a Pediatrician.

Kaely Kantaris is the daughter of Michael and Patricia Kantaris and moved from Louisiana to Frisco 18 months ago. Her father is a recently retired Marine Colonel, so she has lived in 9 places. During her junior and senior year here in FISD, she has been involved in Student Council and National Honor Society. She has received several academic awards and is a National Merit Commended Scholar. She volunteers through the Frisco Humane Society and works at the Banfield Veterinary Hospital. She plans to be a periodontist or forensic pathologist and hopes to attend Rice University. Hendrix, SMU, LSU or the University of Arkansas are also choices.
