Art students from all four Frisco Independent High Schools will travel to the University of Houston at Clear Lake to compete in the State VASE (Visual Art Scholastic Event) on Saturday, April 12.

Thirty-two students were involved in creating the 35 works selected for VASE competition, according to June Waggener, art teacher at Frisco High School.

VASE is sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association to recognize exemplary student achievement in the visual arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve.

At regional VASE on February 23 students were judged on the basis of an interview with a judge and on the artwork itself.  At State VASE students will attend art workshops, portfolio reviews and the state exhibition of work followed by the awards ceremony.
