FISD Song Fest Is Fun for All (May, 2008)

Carroll students at Song FestRobertson Karaoke singersRiddle volunteersFrisco Independent School District held its annual Elementary Song FestMay 8 at Liberty High School and Wakeland High School.Each elementary honor choir participated and received critiques from a distinguished panel of judges.The judges were Michael Chandler,director of the Parkway Elementary School Choir in Lewisville; Linda Harley,Associate Conductor of the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas; Kathy Kuddes, Director of Fine Arts at Plano ISD; and Julie Scott, Coordinator of Elementary Music forRichardson ISD.

Each choir had the opportunity to sing in a large auditorium setting and to hear performances by their peers. The songfest is non-competitive but offers eachchoir a professional critique ofits performance. In addition to the performances, the choirs were able to attend a carnival sponsored by the PTA, according to Melissa Ringel, FISD Elementary Music Lead Teacher.
