Frisco Cares Clinic Offers Free Immunizations to Non-Insured Students (September 12,2007)

Frisco Cares Children’s Clinic has been providing quality healthcare to hundreds of uninsured children since 2005 and is now providing access to free immunizations to non-insured children.

Providing access to free immunizations to children who have no insurance coverage for vaccines is another way Frisco Cares can provide quality healthcare to our community. Frisco Cares now provides free immunization services to qualified children through the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas-sponsored Care Van program.  Free immunizations are available every 2nd Wednesday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Primera Iglesia Bautista church, located at 8581 5th Street in Frisco. The Care Van will be located in the church parking lot. According to Care Van program, one in four children in Texas is not properly immunized.

Frisco Cares is providing immunizations for all required vaccines, as well as offering meningitis and human papilloma virus vaccines.  Qualified children are those without health insurance (including Medicaid and CHIP), age 18 or younger, and living in or attending school in Frisco, Prosper, or Celina.  Proof of residency is required (current utility bill or report card), and vaccine recipients should bring their immunization records.

Frisco Cares also provides low-cost acute healthcare to qualified children every Wednesday at Primera Iglesia Bautista.  Frisco Cares begins taking appointments at 5:00 p.m., and the doctor begins seeing patients at 6:00 p.m.  The cost per child is $5 to see the doctor and prescribed medications are available at no cost.
