Roach Middle School Partners With Fire Department (August 26, 2005)

Roach Middle School Partners With Fire DepartmentThe Frisco Fire Department has gone back to school this year with its temporary station located in an available Roach Middle School classroom.

As a short-term solution for firemen having a presence in the northeast area of the community until their fire station is complete, the FISD partnered with the Fire Department again (a similar arrangement took place on the west side of town a couple of years ago) for a win-win situation.

“The firefighters are here from 7 a.m. until the custodians leave in the evening,” Terri Gladden, the Sam and Ann Roach Middle School Principal, explained in case parents or passersby wondered about the fire equipment.

For the most part, she stated, you wouldn’t even know they are there, but the firefighters were able to join students for lunch in the cafeteria this week.

“The kids and teachers loved it,” she said. “And they are going to be on hand to help with our first fire drill next week!”

Many times during Frisco’s phenomenal growth city and school have worked together to bring the best service possible to FISD students and Frisco taxpayers. School officials routinely work with city departments to ensure that students and parents have a great place to live, work and play.
