Pioneer Heritage Middle School Inspired by the Acclaimed Drum Café (February, 2007)

Pioneer Heritage Middle School students were intrigued and inspired by the internationally acclaimed Drum Café on Thursday, February 8th, 2007. This was the company’s first performance in the North Dallas area.

Started in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1996, Drum Café went international in 2002. A Broadway show by the same company called “Drumstruck” opened in New York in 2005. Drum Café performs throughout the world to companies, schools and other organizations with the goal of uniting and energizing their audiences.

At Pioneer Heritage Middle School, students and staff participated in an exciting and interactive team-building program that is unique and powerful. The message of the program is “Living Above the Line”, Pioneer’s vision for this school year. “Living Above the Line” means choosing actions and behaviors that are positive and responsible. The group worked together to break down barriers and create common ground. Through this uplifting program students learned the importance their contributions, big and small, make to the school.

The program was sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization.
