Pioneer Heritage Orchestra Student Performs Well in Young Artists Competition (January, 2007)

Jung Choi, a student at Pioneer Heritage Middle SchoolFrisco's Jung Choi, a student at Pioneer Heritage Middle School, was 2nd place winner in the Junior Winds Division of the Plano Symphony Orchestra's 2007 Collin County Young Artist Competition which was held this past Saturday, January 6, at the Collin County Community College in Plano, according to Joanna Buck, public information spokesman for the symphony. Choi plays the clarinet.

Choi took part in the event along with more than 90 other contestants. The categories were Piano, Strings, Winds & Percussion. Winners were named in both the Junior Division (grades 1-8) and Senior Division (grades 9-12). The general public was invited to listen to the finals free of charge at which time three grand prize winners were chosen from the 12 finalists. The grand prize winners will perform with the Plano Symphony Orchestra as soloists at the March 10, 2007 Plano Symphony's "An Evening of Rising Stars!" concert at the Eisemann Center.
