DEA Helicopter and Agents Visit Shawnee Trail Elementary (November, 2007)

DEA Helicopter Lands at Shawnee TrailThe Federal Drug Enforcement Agency devotes several weeks each fall to visiting campuses to urge children not to use illegal drugs. The agency also uses these weeks to honor the memory of slain DEA agent Kiki Camarena who gave his life in the battle against drugs when he was killed while working as an undercover agent. Agents who work in the DFW area visited Shawnee Trail Elementary School recently, arriving in an official DEA helicopter and presenting the school with posters that honor Camarena. The entire student body gathered outside the school to watch the agents land the helicopter. Students were allowed to view the helicopter up close after the agents spoke about Camarena and the serious consequences of illegal drug sales and use.
