Three FISD Students Selected as National Merit Finalists (March, 2008)

Frisco High School student, Rachel LaViola and Centennial High School students, Amanda Chen and John Enderle, have met all requirements necessary for advancement to Finalist standing in the competition for Merit Scholarship awards to be offered in 2008. The three are among 15,000 Finalists selected by the National Merit® Scholarship Program from the 1.4 million original applicants.

The selection of some 8,200 Merit Scholarship winners from this group of Finalists is now in progress.

Rachel is the daughter of Mara and Bill LaViola of Frisco, Texas.  She is involved in theater and serves as president of The International Thespian Society.  She sings in the FHS Triple Trio Choir and Chorale Choir.  Rachel is also a member of National Honor Society.

Amanda is the daughter of Ron and Marie Chen of Frisco.  She is an exceptional violinist and a four year member of the Centennial orchestra.  Amanda was the first FISD student ever selected for All-State Orchestra.  Amanda is also a member of the Academic Decathlon team and UIL academic team.

John is the son of Scott and Julie Enderle of Frisco, Texas.  He is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the CHS Computer Science Club.  He competes in UIL Literary Criticism and Science and is also a member of National Honor Society.
