RACC-TV Takes Home Awards (May 17, 2007)

The Foundation of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced regional winners of the National Student Television Award for Excellence, recognizing outstanding television journalism by high school students. 

This year, from the Emmy Awards Lone Star chapter, RACC-TV won the Arts & Entertainment, Cultural Affairs category for the piece titled “No Dirty Dancing” surrounding the possibility of dances being taken away if there was inappropriate dancing at the FHS Winter Formal.  This segment was produced by the advanced crew of Amanda Sidney, Sienna Perez, Daphne Wu, Peyton Buns, C.J. Gardner, Allison Irwin, Shayna McCaskill, Todd Ramos, John Wilkinson, and Caroline Wolf.

RACC-TV also received honorable mention in the news category for “Teacher-Student Relationships” by the advanced crew, two honorable mentions in the sports category for “FHS Football” and “FHS Volleyball”…both by the advanced crew, and honorable mention in the Arts & Entertainment, Cultural Affairs category for “What is Emo?” by Shamar Williams, McKenzie Minett, and Matthew Torres.
