ISM Students Coordinate International Festival(April, 2008)

Celebrate, recognize, and appreciate the wonder of our world at this year’s Frisco Independent School District International Festival coordinated by Brittney Beamon and Elroy Johnson, both Independent Study and Mentorship students. Beamon is a student at Frisco High School, and Johnson is a student at Centennial High School.

The event is scheduled for Thursday April 24, 2008 at 6:00– 8:30pm at Centennial High School 6901 Coit Road. This event is open to the public and is an excellent opportunity to experience the several diverse cultures now represented in the community.

Some of the cultures and countries represented will be Sweden, Columbia, Nigeria, Vietnam, India, and countless others. Showcase areas may include foods, musical instruments, art, and textiles.

Entertainment will include dancing, music, and poetry from various countries. Rounding out the evening will be a runway exhibit of native costumes. This is an opportunity to celebrate, recognize, and appreciate the many different cultures that contribute to the success of our community and school district.

Centennial began hosting an International Festival Day three years ago and it has now expanded to include Frisco High School. Johnson is serving as president of the event.
