“Hand in Hand…United We Stand Against Drugs!”   (November, 2005)

“Hand in Hand…United We Stand Against Drugs!” (November, 2005)“Hand in Hand…United We Stand Against Drugs!”   This was Fisher Elementary’s overall theme for National Red Ribbon Week October 24th – October 28th).  National Red Ribbon Week is a week that is dedicated to a man named, Enrique “KiKi” Camarena, who lost his life as an officer in pursuit of putting drug dealers away.  The goal of this week is to give students the knowledge they need about drugs (legal vs. illegal), saying “No,” and alternatives that are safe and healthy.  Nurse Hodgkiss and Counselor Garwacki visited the grade levels during specials time this week to help empower the student’s at Fisher regarding the above topics.  To reinforce the power of making commitments in leading healthy productive lives, we had each student and faculty member sign their name making the pledge to being “Drug Free!” on a BIG hand.  Overall, we have 31 hands and 1 faculty hand that are displayed in our cafeteria representing the commitment to be “Drug Free!” in honor of our “hand in hand” theme.
