Frisco ISD Middle School Athletics Wrap Up - Fall and Winter (March, 2008)

Frisco ISD Fall Middle School Athletics started off with a bang.  Football and Volleyball was very competitive throughout the district.  Three 8th grade football teams battled for the top spot all season long.  Roach ultimately won out with an undefeated record of 9-0 beating the other two top FISD teams Griffin and Pioneer. Wester’s 7th grade team got edged out by the Griffin Gators for the top spot in FISD.  The Volleyball season was just as competitive as the football season! The Wester Wildcat Ladies took control of the regular season but got beat in the district tournament by their eventual teammates the Clark Cougars.  The Lady Cougar 8th grade team ended up 2nd in the District Tournament. The 7th grade Lady Gators and Lady Panthers took the drivers seat in FISD but eventually lost out in the District tournament.  

The FISD Middle School Basketball season was as equally competitive as our football and volleyball seasons.   On the boys 8th grade side, the Griffin Gators came in 2nd at the district tournament after hard fought regular season battles with the Pioneer and Roach 8th grade squads.   The 7th grade Pioneer Panther boys finished 2nd at the district tournament, while the Griffin 7th grade team ended up in the 3rd spot.   The 7th grade boy’s regular season came down between Griffin with a 7-3 record and the Clark Cougars finishing at 6-4 .   The Lady Gators, both 7th and 8th grade squads had the highest finish in District Tournament play.   The 8th grade team came in 2nd while the 7th grade girls finished 4th.   The top ranking teams in FISD regular season action came down to three teams at the 8th grade level and four teams at the 7th grade level.   The 8th grade squads of Griffin and Roach ended the regular season at 9-1 and the Lady Falcons turned in an 8-2 record.  The 7th grade Lady Wildcats finished with a 7-3 mark, while the Lady Falcons turned in at 8-2.   The Lady Gators and Lady Panthers finished with the best FISD records at 9-1.

Finally, the FISD District Cross Country Meet was held at Warren Park on Wednesday March 1st with all district schools fielding both 7th and 8th grade boys and girls teams.   The 7th grade Cougar Boys team won 1st place and on the girl’s side, the Lady Mustangs took home the 1st place trophy.   8th grade 1st place trophies went to the Lady Griffin Gators and the Roach Ram boy’s team.  

The fall and winter seasons have come to end and our Spring Track and Soccer seasons are here.   Congratulations to all participants this fall and winter and we look forward to the start of track and soccer.   The FISD City Track Meet will be held on Thursday March 13th at FISD Memorial Stadium.  The First district soccer game will begin on Thursday March 27th.   Good Luck to all FISD athletes and teams in Track and Soccer.
