4 FHS Softball Players Sign Scholarships Early (November, 2006)

The Frisco High School Softball program has proudly announced the early signings of 4 players who will graduate in May of 2007.

The signees are: Natalie Villarreal who will be attending Texas A&M University, Jammie Weidert who will be attending the University of Minnesota, Kristen Rigsbee who will be attend Ouachita Baptist University, and Mallory Mitchell, who like Weidert, will be attending the University of Minnesota.

Villarreal, a left-handed 2nd basemen and outfielder with great speed, should add a lot of punch to the A&M line up. She has been a two time All-State player in 2005 and 2006. Villarreal hit .560 for the Lady Raccoons last year and was named district 9AAAA MVP.

Weidert will be attending Minnesota and should add depth to their pitching staff and help the Golden Gophers in a lot ways because of the number of positions she can play. Weidert was a 1st Team District 9AAAA player last year and has been one the main pitchers for Frisco since she was a sophomore.

Rigsbee will be attending Ouachita Baptist University and make an impact on their program right away with her pitching and versatility. Like Weidert, Rigsbee can play a lot of positions besides pitch. Kristen was named the 2006 Class AAAA All State team and was named District 9AAAA Co-Pitcher of the year.

Mitchell will be attending Minnesota as a 3rd basemen and 1st basemen. Mallory was on the 2006 Forney Lady Jackrabbit team with was the 3rd place team that made the playoffs and was eliminated in the area round.

“This was a great day for Frisco High School softball,” Head Softball Coach Max Bledsoe said. “We are very proud of this group of girls. They are very hard workers and they are not only good softball players but very good students who have a lot of character,” Bledsoe added.
