Anderson, Fisher and Fowler have DestiNation ImagiNation Teams Headed for State(March, 2008)

Anderson Third Grade TeamAnderson Fifth Grade teamAnderson Elementary and Fowler Middle School DestiNation ImagiNation teams took first place at the regional level and will continue on to state competition in Austin in April, according to school principals Teresa Wilkinson and Donnie Wiseman.

Fisher Elementary School also has a team headed for state, according to Principal Nancy Lawson. Ksyenia Vishnakova, Chase Vogeli, Samantha Zike, Akshaat Shrivastava, and Maddie Vick placed 2nd in the Regional Competition but still qualify for state, she said. Fisher also is proud of having won the DI spirit award, she said.

DestiNation ImagiNation is a community-based school competition program that involves creative teamwork problem-solving. DestiNation ImagiNation is designed to improve critical thinking skills, creativity and the group dynamics of working as a team. Mechanical science, theater arts, improvisational acting, fine arts and structural design may be elements of the solution process.

Fowler DI team

The Fowler Middle School sixth Grade team, coached by Sherry Bryant, won first place and a trip to state for challenge: SWITCH! Team members include Cole Bryant, Mathew Hintz, Andrew Masucci, Subodh Potla, Konnor Rodriguez and Brian Simpson. The other sixth grade team coached by Michelle Massey took a very respectable second place for Challenge: Hit or Myth. Team members included Ashley Brotzman, Shelby Ford, Lindey Goralczyk, Hannah Massey and Sarah Zagurski. Two Tayler Elementary students also competed with the Fowler team. They are Lindsey Hanna and Ashley Bowling.

The Anderson first place teams are third graders Nitya Nandagopal, Yuliana Lorenso, Delanie Lewis, Ethan Kim, Tom Cline and fifth graders Nate Nise, Vik Shirvaikar, James Woods, Stephen Thom, Vinny Shirvaikar and Daniel Woods. Third grade coaches are Dharini Iyengar and Yanina Lorenso and the fifth grade team coach is Vickie Kersch.
