Christie Celebrates Book Week (December,2007)

Christie staff as book charactersChristie Elementary School celebrated Children’s Book Week the week of November 12 – 16.  To kick off the week, teachers and students decorated their classroom door to highlight their favorite book.  Classics included “Dragon Rider”, “The Boxcar Children”, “Bad Kitty”, “Rainbow Fish”, “The Biggest, Baddest Snowman”, “Clifford the Big Red Dog”, and “Flecha al Sol”.  The Book Phantoms were roaming the halls to award students a “Caught Reading a Good Book” award during drop everything and read time.

Classes came into the library for a game of musical books and discovered new titles that were awaiting check out.  The highlight of the week was the third annual Book Character Parade that marched throughout the entire school building.  Students and staff dressed up as their favorite main character, including Jack and Annie from the Magic Tree House, the Library Dragon, and Nancy Drew to name just a few.
