CoServ Presents Check to FEF (January, 2008)

CoServ Check PresentationCoServ, a founding partner and generous donor to the Frisco Education Foundation, recently presented the Foundation with a $15,000 check continuing their support and long-term commitment to FEF.

The grant money is to go towards grants for new teachers in the district at the beginning of each school year, said FEF  Director Allison Miller. These are awarded at the New Teacher Breakfast each school year. CoServe has donated $55,000 total in New Teacher Grant funds over the last several years, in addition to their support as a founding partner.

“CoServ Electric is committed to supporting the education arena through endowed teacher assistance grants. The Frisco community is home to many of our members. It is where we raise and educate our kids. Helping teachers acquire supplies, attend professional development seminars or to sponsor classroom projects benefits the whole community,” commented Dennis Engelke, Director of Members and Employee Relations with CoServ.

Teachers report that the money is very much appreciated.

“This is my first year teaching 6th grade Science (and at a new school), so I used the money to purchase posters & decorations for our new science lab and incidental materials needed for classroom/lab experiments, as well as miscellaneous supplies and a couple of Science reference books. The money was very appreciated & put to good use,” said Margie Fitzgerald, Fowler Middle School.

“The $100 went to help decorate my room. I bought border, fadeless paper, an alphabet line and a new calendar bulletin board. It is not very glamorous but very appreciated,” said Valerie Brown, a kindergarten teacher at Sem Elementary.

“CoServ exemplifies the true meaning of business in the community. We are very grateful to CoServ and its members for investing in the future of the students in FISD by investing in their teachers.” Miller said.

As the second largest electric cooperative in Texas, CoServ Electric provides services to more than 120,000 residential, commercial and industrial members in parts of Denton, Collin, Tarrant, Wise, Cooke and Grayson counties.
