Calvin Bledsoe Elementary Staff, Students and Parents Dedicate Courtyard to School Namesake (May, 2006)

On Friday, May 19, Bledsoe students, staff and parents dedicated the courtyard area in honor of Mr. Bledsoe, the school's namesake, who passed away this school year. The student council raised money and purchased two concrete patio tables/benches/umbrellas for the courtyard and the PTA presented a plaque designating the area as Calvin's Courtyard. The PTA also purchased two books for the library about baseball and football, because of Mr. Bledsoe's love of sports. Students read poems and sang a musical selection and granddaughter Alisha Sandifer accepted the honor for her "papaw" and talked about the things that made him special so the students would know a bit more about the kind of person he was.

Other family members attending the dedication were Max, Brenda and Whitney Bledsoe; Amy Bledsoe and Steven Mears; Kip, Carla, Jordan and Jamie Bledsoe; and Liz and Kenny Pack.
