FISD Artwork Featured at State School Board Convention (September, 2008)

FISD Artists Work Featured at TASBSeven Frisco ISD art teachers entered works by their students into the Texas Association of School Administrators and School Boards (TASA/TASB) show. All of the pieces were judged by a panel from TAEA and they all were accepted for the show, which featured the top 100 works in the state. The convention was in Dallas the weekend of September 26 and 27.

The winners include:

Meghan Ruhl, 2nd grade - Teacher Laverne Forwark of Curtsinger Elementary

Patrick Webb, 5th Grade - Teacher Denise Boles of Mooneyham Elementary

Mason Rougk 9th Grade -  Teacher Jill Denton of Wakeland High School.

Jennifer Karr, 11th Grade - Teacher Diane Bray of Liberty High School.

Cindy Bai, 11th grade ( two pieces) - Teacher Diane Bray of Liberty High School.

Sarah Ochoa 11th grade - Teacher Diane Bray --Liberty High School.

Rebekah Cunningham, 11th grade - Teacher Alicia Cobb --Wakeland High School.

Wakeland Art teacher Jill Denton reports that one of the persons housing the artwork for the show lived in the area that Hurricane Ike hit. “Suzanne Green found the artwork in an inch or so of water; fortunately, it only ruined the mats, not the artwork, at least not Frisco's. So she had to bring all the artwork over to her dad's house and put it up high and lay it all out to dry. Then she and her "little elves" came in and rematted every piece. Her electricity was out most of this time also, so her email was out,“ Denton explained, applauding how much Green went out of her way to salvage the artwork so it could be displayed.
