New Administrators Named in FISD

The FISD Board of Trustees named two new high school principals Monday night to head up the third and fourth high schools scheduled to open in 2006.

Mike Farish, currently Associate Principal at Frisco High, was named as the principal for Wakeland High School. He has 25 years of experience as an educator, with 12 of those in administration. He has served students at FHS for the past five years and has also worked in Coppell, Highland Park and as a teacher/coach in Plano ISD. His bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from Austin College and he is currently working toward his doctorate. WHS will open as a 9-11 campus with about 650 students, placing it at a 3A classification for two years.

Mike Waldrip, currently the Director of Secondary Instruction in FISD, was named as Principal of Liberty High School. Liberty will open as a 9th grade center and will grow to a 9-10 campus in 2007. Waldrip has 23 years of experience as an educator, with seven of those in administration. Prior to taking the director’s position last year, he was Principal of Clark Middle School in FISD for two years. He has also served as assistant principal at Seminole High School for four years. He taught and coached in Seminole, Goliad and Victoria high schools. His bachelor’s degree is from Texas Tech and his master’s is from Sul Ross.

Pat Bradley, currently the principal at Pioneer Heritage Middle School, has been named as the new Director of Secondary Instruction. Bradley has been the principal of Pioneer Heritage for three years and was the principal at Staley Middle school in FISD four years prior to that. She has 25 years of experience as an educator and came to Frisco ISD from Wichita Falls ISD, where she served as a middle school principal. Mrs. Bradley has a bachelor’s degree in education from East Texas State University and a master’s in counseling and guidance from Troy State.

Katie Kordel, currently an assistant principal at Clark Middle School, has been named as principal for Pioneer Heritage Middle School. Kordel has been at Clark for the past two years and was a teacher, administrative intern and summer school principal in Allen ISD for four years prior to that at the middle and high school levels. Her bachelors degree is from Southern Illinois University and her master’s degree is from Texas A&M Commerce.

“This is an exciting time in FISD,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Rick Reedy said. “Things are moving quickly and the opening of two high schools in one year is unique. Having the principals on board for a year in advance should ensure a smooth transition and will allow them to be accessible to parents, students and staff. I am very pleased with the naming of these fine professionals.”
