Wakeland Choir Presents Heritage Concert October 9 (October, 2008)

Wakeland Combined Choirs at Frisco Heritage ParkOn Thursday, October 9, Wakeland High School's combined choirs are presenting a musical tribute titled "Connecting Frisco's Present to the Past." They will be joined by an all-star line-up including Frisco dignitaries (Mayor Maso, Dr. Justin Wakeland, Catherine Fowler, and Dr. Bob Warren), Dr. Daryl Trent (Frisco Fine Arts Director), Tom Ohm (Frisco Sports Announcer), and Wakeland High School history teacher Geoff Smith and administrators Sherry Crawford and Howard Hughes.  Also, you'll enjoy a PowerPoint presentation on the theme created by Bob King from the Frisco Heritage Association.

Don Hermanot, who started the choir program at Frisco High School, will serve as guest conductor and Troop 51of the Boy Scouts of America will do a Flag Ceremony at the beginning of the concert.

This free concert, under the direction of Ms. Ange Defee, begins at 7:30 P.M. in the auditorium at Wakeland High School (10700 Legacy Road.  Auditorium is through the school's north entrance.)  A reception will follow the concert.

Don't miss this spectacular vocal performance, featuring bluegrass,African American spirituals, ragtime, Mexicanand American folk songs, plus favorite cowboy, Indian, and railroad songs.The following choirs will be performing: Jazz Tonez, Chorale, Concert Choir, Treble Chorus and Male Chorus.  A small WHS Orchestra Ensemblewill also be playing during the concert.
