Board Approves Rezoning of School Attendance Zones
The FISD Board of Trustees has approved new attendance zones for new campuses opening in fall of 2012 and zoning modifications to address overcrowding at existing schools. This vote came at the January 9 board meeting following several months of discussion and parent input. AEIS Report Reviewed
The board also heard the results of the 2010-11 Academic Excellence Indicator System report from the state and held a public hearing for comments. Click here to read that report: AEIS Report

Planning Ahead, 2012-2013 Calendar Approved

January is Board Recognition Month

January is School Board Appreciation Month and FISD employees and students honored past and present school board trustees at a reception at the FISD Administration Building on January 9 prior to the regular board meeting. Superintendent Rick Reedy thanked the board members for their service to the community. Board members and guests were entertained by harp students from Frisco High School.

FISD Educators Honored With Awards

Tammy Turner, library media specialist at Scoggins Middle School in Frisco ISD, has been identified as one of the top three finalists for TCEA (Texas Computer Education Agency) Library Media Specialist of the Year. The winner will be announced in February. All three finalists receive a monetary award.

Cheryl Hendrix, counselor at Boals Elementary School, will be honored at a February luncheon in Galveston as a recipient of a CREST Award, according to Brenda Russell, Director of the FISD Guidance and Counseling Department. Hendrix is the first FISD counselor to receive this prestigious award. Russell noted that the award comes at a fitting time as National School Counseling Week is observed February 6-10. Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas (CREST) is sponsored by the Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA) and awarded to school counseling programs that meet CREST requirements.
