Frisco ISD Enrolls 20,000th Student (January, 2006)

Frisco ISD Enrolls 20,000th Student Frisco High School junior Amelia "Emmie" France enrolled in school Wednesday, Jan. 4, becoming the 20,000th student to enroll in Frisco ISD.

By the end of the day Wednesday, the first day back after the winter break, FISD had an enrollment of 20,014 students.

FISD officials marked the milestone with a special greeting and gift items for Emmie on Thursday morning. North Dallas Bank and Trust CEO Robert Jackson presented Emmie with $200 in check cards to commemorate the event. Other businesses donating items to help greet Emmie were Canyons of Frisco Climbing, Strikz, Stonebriar Centre, and Double Dip. Emmie also received a shirt stating "I did it!" on the front; on the back it read, "20,000th student to enroll in Frisco ISD."

On hand to welcome the 20,000th student were Principal Rick Burnett, Superintendent Rick Reedy, Board Member Brenda Polk, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Debra Nelson, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Doug Zambiasi, FHS members of the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council Members Jackson Forse, Jason Nix, Brianne Fair, Carlos Garcia and Sydney Keys.

A proclamation will be given to Emmie at the regular Board meeting on Monday. Emmie moved here with her family from Seattle the day after Christmas.

FISD has been experiencing phenomenal growth for the past 8 years - growing from 3,800 students in 1998 to over 20,000 today - it is projected to reach an enrollment beyond 30,000 students in the next three years.
