  • How do I get my credits when I return from an out-of-district workshop or conference?  Upon completion of an out-of-district courses and conference staff will submit their request for credit in Eduphoria Workshop and principals will review and approve (accept/decline) credits.  See Eduphoria Page
  • Do all exchange (non-contract) hours have to have prior approval? All campus staff will complete an Individual Professional Development Plan with their supervisor, however Pre-approval Forms are only required for out-of-district workshops and conferences. See Forms
  • Is there a limit to how many hours you need in each strand?  No, non-contract hours do not need to be split evenly across the five strands. Specific increments are not required. It is best to plan your courses based on your Individual Professional Development Plan. See Forms
  • Who approves the professional development for staff? Supervisor pre-approval all of out-of-district workshops, conferences, and college coursework prior to attendance is required. Principals will meet with all staff to review Individual Professional Development Plans during summative conferences.See Forms Page

    • Out-of-district approval should be a joint partnership b/t the principal and even the appropriate director/coordinator when necessary.
    • All staff, should work with their principal first. Support staff should contact their department/coordinator to collaborate with the principal when clarification on appropriateness and/or strands is needed.
  •
  • Does the GT update count towards the 12 non-contract hours if taken during non-contract? Yes, All GT sessions eligible for the update are designated as GT within a specified strand and as approved by the Advanced Academic Coordinator.
  • Is it going to be hard to get other strands during the year?  This should not present itself as a problem. We are all planning on providing comprehensive professional development throughout the year.  Each department/program has worked extensively to plan workshops across the strands to better impact effective teaching practices. In addition to summer courses you will have opportunities throughout the year to acquire non-contract hours across the five strands.
  • In the past, grade level teams have been given credit for planning together in the summer.  Will that still be the case and if so, what strand does that fall under? Unfortunately team planning will not count toward the 12-hour noncontract professional development requirement.
  • When teachers sign up in Eduphoria will the course list the strands it addresses? Yes, Eduphoria is structured to indicate the strands in the credit types.
  • I read that 6 hours is considered a full professional development day.  Does that mean that there will not be half-day professional development sessions offered? No, this only clarifies that on a campus and/or districtwide professional development day 6 hours is required and considered a full day of training. Courses are scheduled 8-11:00, 12:30-3:30 or 8-3:30.
