Announcements

FRISCO IND SCHOOL DISTRICT.jpg

We are proud of FISD and its community partners to have been named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People of 2012, an award given by the America’s Promise Alliance and sponsored by ING. There is a lengthy application process and we have been told that there was stiff competition this year with more than 300 applications being submitted. In order to be considered for the award, communities –which can be defined as a city, township or a school district - must demonstrate in the application process what they do to meet the Five Promises of the America’s Promise Alliance. Those are:

· Caring Adults

· Safe Places

· A Healthy Start

· Effective Education

· Opportunities to Help Others

We are thankful for our many partners in the community who help us meet the needs of our young people and make this a great place to live and raise a family.

The winners of this award receive a $2,500 grant to go toward a program that supports one of the promises, along with two street signs, and a trophy.
