Mata

In-Home / Parent Trainer

Hello!  My name is Marti Mata & I am thrilled to be one of our amazing district's four In-Home/Parent Trainers!  I was born in Barcelona, Spain.  When I was six years old, my family moved to Miami, Florida where I made the sun and beach my home for thirty years.  In 2008, we moved to Frisco, Texas.  I am blessed to have three wonderful boys that attended Frisco ISD schools: Bledsoe Elementary, Pioneer Heritage Middle School, and Frisco High School.  Justin recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!), and my twins, Nichols (University of Oklahoma) and Jonathan (University of Northern Colorado), are both college seniors this year.  I could not be prouder of my boys!

I attended Florida International University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work; however, I always knew that education had a special place in my heart.  A few years after graduation I became a substitute teacher, which led to a position as an elementary teacher.  I have been a teacher in Frisco ISD for thirteen years: I supported our students in Specialized Behavior Support (SBS) for ten years and our students in Resource for the past three years.  I am excited to have the opportunity to merge my love for education with my experience in social services as an In-Home/Parent Trainer.

Please know that I am here to help you in any way that I can.  Feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance to your family.  I am looking forward to working with you and making this school year a great success!

In-Home / Parent Trainer

Hi!  My name is Megan Walls and I am honored to serve as an In-Home/Parent Trainer with Frisco ISD this year!

I was born and raised in Plano and attended school in Plano ISD, where I met my husband, David.  We now have our hands full with two young children and two fur babies!  Together we enjoy cooking (and eating), being outdoors, playing and watching sports, and spending time with our family and friends.

I graduated from Midwestern State University, where I majored in Special Education and played collegiate soccer.  Upon graduation, I taught Special Education in Plano ISD before becoming a centralized classroom teacher in Frisco ISD for seven years.  This will be my first year as an In-Home/Parent Trainer and I am excited to share my passion and knowledge in this new role.

Special Education has always been one of my greatest passions.  I was called to be a Special Education teacher at the young age of twelve.  I believe that Special Education is the most rewarding field in the entire world and that I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with students and their families in such a profound way.

I look forward to working with you this year and helping to bridge the gap between home and school!

Tibbits

In-Home / Parent Trainer

Hello!  My name is Shannon Tibbits and I will be serving as an In-Home/Parent Trainer for the district this year.  This is my sixth year with FISD and I am looking forward to working with you and your family to offer support and resources.

I am a native Texan, Frisco resident, and TWU alumni.  My husband Larry and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary this year.  We have three wonderful teenagers who attend FISD schools.  Colten is 18 and a Senior at Lone Star,  Kendall is 15 and a Freshman at Lone Star, and Carter is 13 and in 8th grade at Stafford.  We enjoy cheering for our favorite sports teams (Stafford Spartans, Lone Star Rangers, Green Bay Packers), hiking, traveling, and family time together.

Special Education holds a dear place in my heart because I don't just work in the field, but am a SpEd parent as well.  My family was blessed to be a part of the FISD family and receive so many helpful resources, access to outstanding therapy teams and wonderful teachers that have assisted and guided us in our child's overall success.  As a result of my personal experiences, I feel driven to assist other families that my need support/resources to help their children with special needs.  I look forward to working with your family this year!

Hello!  My name is Kimberly Goushey and I am so very excited to begin my 9th year as an In-Home/Parent Trainer with Frisco ISD!

I am originally from South Louisiana... what was intended to be a temporary move to North Texas for graduate school resulted in meeting my husband and happily planting our family's roots in the Frisco area.  Together, we have two children who love Frisco ISD as much as we do: Bella Grace is 14 and a Freshman at Memorial, Brody is 10 and a fourth grader at Newman Elementary.  We also have two rescue kitties, including our youngest who is a "tripaw" (he has three legs).  We have been overwhelmed by the amazing teachers, therapists, and administrators who have poured into our children throughout our years in FISD!  In my downtime, you'll find me cheering for my son's baseball team, supporting my daughter's ever-growing love of Color Guard, photographing friends and family, raising awareness for limb differences, cheering for the New Orleans Saints, and loving on those who need loving.

I have served children with special needs and their families for the past 17 years through classroom instruction, consulting, and In-Home/Parent Training.  My professional career has been devoted to empowering those who are differently-abled... I feel quite blessed to spend each day doing what I love!

I am excited to meet each of you and share in your journey!  Please contact me any time if I can provide value to your family!
