Special Education exists in Frisco ISD to provide a comprehensive educational program with complete educational opportunities essential to the full intellectual and social development of students with disabilities between the ages of 3 and 21. The needs of such students require resources and assistance beyond that available within the regular classroom.
Every effort will be made to provide a free, appropriate public education of feasible, flexible programs and services for maximum involvement of all children with disabilities. The emphasis will be on flexibility with an individually tailored education to be provided on campus and/or within a centralized program to address communication, cognitive, developmental, socio/emotional, physical and/or medical challenges.
The FISD goal is to assist students develop skills that will enable them to participate successfully in society by improving self-esteem and confidence in learning and social situations.
