Frisco ISD offers a half day Pre-Kindergarten program for eligible students at select elementary schools.  The focus of the Pre-Kindergarten program is to develop the following:  oral language, prerequisite skills for emergent readers, early math concepts, and build readiness skills for successful entry into a kindergarten program.  Upon meeting eligibility criteria, students are assigned to a Pre-Kindergarten site based on home campus zones.  Transportation is provided from the student’s home campus to the Pre-Kindergarten site.  To be eligible for the district’s free Pre-Kindergarten program a child must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the upcoming school year and meets any or all of the following criteria:

  • The child is limited English proficient (a student is administered a language proficiency test to determine eligibility), or
  • The family meets the free/reduced lunch income guideline, or
  • The family meets the criteria of “homeless” as defined by 42 U.S.C.S. Section 11302.4, or
  • The child of an active duty, injured, or killed member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, or
  • The child is or has been in foster care.
